Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of the Treasury

Rafał Baniak (born 12 February 1976). He graduated from the Faculty of Economics and International Relations at the Cracow University of Economics. In the years 2002-2003, he was an adviser to the Minister of Labour and Social Policy. Between 2003 and 2004, he was a counsellor to the Deputy Prime Minister and the Acting Director of the Secretariat of the Deputy Prime Minister, Jerzy Hausner.

From 14 May 2004 to 17 November 2005, he held the office of the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Social Policy. During this period, he served as the Co-President of the Council for Public Benefit Works, and the Deputy President of the Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Authority. He was also a member of the European Committee of the Council of Ministers. He supervised the work of the following departments: Public Benefit, International Cooperation, Coordination of Social Security Systems, Managing the European Social Fund and Implementing the European Social Fund.

In 2006, he became the Director of the Department of Social Dialogue and Labour Relations at the Polish Confederation of Private Employers “Lewiatan”, and then held a position of an adviser to the President and a deputy to the General Director of the Confederation of Polish Employers serving, inter alia, as the Secretary of the Tripartite Commission for Social and Economic Affairs. Member of the Dublin Foundation.

On 17 December 2007, he was appointed the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Economy. He chaired inter-ministerial teams for foreign investments, for public-private partnership, and for corporate social responsibility. During this period, he represented the government as a member of the Tripartite Commission for Social and Economic Affairs and Joint Commission of Government and Local Government. He was the Co-President of tripartite sectoral teams for social conditions of the steel industry restructuring, for chemical industry, for light industry, and a member of health protection team. At that time, he also held the position of the Vice President of the Council for Promotion of Poland. He supervised the work of such departments as Support Instruments, European Funds, Implementation of Operational Programs, Export Control, Offset, Civil Defence, as well as the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development, the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency, and the Material Reserves Agency. Member of the Council of the Polish Tourist Organisation.

Interested in economic policy, corporate restructuring, NGO development, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and social economy.

His strategy of defending customer portfolio, ensuring appropriate services for customers and attracting new market segments resulted in an establishment of asset management company, investment fund company, sector of personal – property insurance, a transfer agent and a distribution company. In Commercial Union Polska Ubezpieczenia na Życie he was a member of the Management Board (1995), first Vice President of the Management Board (1996 – 1997) and then the President of the Management Board (1998 – 2004). He has 20 years of experience in shareholder supervision. On 26 March 2009, with a resolution of the Supervisory Board, Mr Andrzej Skolmowski was appointed a Vice-President of the Management Board of AZOTY Tarnów responsible for finance and trade. Vice Chairman and Partner of PwC in Poland

Jacek Socha is the Vice Chairman of PwC in Poland. He joined PwC in December 2005. Since joining the firm he has advised a number of large Polish state-owned enterprises as well as foreign companies.

In the years 2004 – 2005 he was the Minister of State Treasury in the government of Prime Minister Marek Belka’s. As the Minister of State Treasury, he successfully completed a number of privatization transactions on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, including the biggest IPO in Poland – PKO BP.

From 1991 to 2004 he worked for the Securities and Exchange Commission of Poland (and from 1994 to 2004 he was the Chairman of the Commission). During these years he participated in creation of the modern capital market in Poland, and in the admission process of a large number of companies currently listed on the WSE

He is the Honorary Member of the Warsaw Stock Exchange, the Chamber of Brokerage Houses and the Association of Securities Brokers and Investment Advisors.

He was the Deputy Chairman of the Emerging Market Committee of International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) and the Chairman of the European Regional Committee of IOSCO.

Jacek Socha is the member of the Corporate Governance Committee. He is the co-writer of the first rules approved by the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 2002 and also the member of the Information Governance Board.

Jacek Socha is the Referee of the Arbitration Court by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority.

He is the Vice-President of the Polish Confederation of Private Employers.

He is also a Vice-President of the Polish Golf Union.

Jacek Socha is the author of the books: „Market – Exchange – Investments”, „Understanding Stock Exchange”, „Securities market in Poland”. He is also the author of a number of articles and publications on the subject.

Jacek Socha is a Polish national, he was born in 1954 in Paczków.

Married. Two daughters. Favourite pastime: playing golf, tennis and bridge.

sokolowskiMarek Sokołowski

Vice-President of the Management Board Chief Operation Officer, Lotos Group

Marek Sokołowski graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Gdańsk University of Technology. He also completed a postgraduate programme in industrial investment and a number of specialist courses in management, both in Poland and abroad.

In 1973, he joined Rafineria Gdańska S.A. (currently: Grupa LOTOS), where in 1990 he became Technical Director and Member of the Management Board. For three consecutive terms in office, his chief responsibility was the refinery’s plant engineering and execution of investment projects. In 1996–2000, he was in charge of an investment programme involving the refinery’s expansion and technical upgrade. From mid-2000 to April 2002, he worked as the Chief of Technical Service. Moreover, from April 2000 to March 2002, he acted in the capacity of the Company’s Commercial Proxy. In April 2002, he was appointed Vice-President of the Board of Grupa LOTOS, also serving as its Chief Operation Officer.
Mr Sokołowski has served as Vice-President of the Board since April 19th 2002. He is in charge of, coordinates, directs and takes responsibility for the overall production and technical management, technology development, and capex programmes (projects oriented towards technical and technological advancement). In 2004-2011, he was in charge of the refinery expansion project (the 10+ Programme). He is also charged with the oversight of companies allocated to the LOTOS Group’s operating segment.[/toggle]

Country Manager for Dow in Poland and Baltics

Robert joined Dow in 2006 in Poland as an Account Manager for Base Plastics & Styrenics, Engineering Plastics and Dow Building Solutions.

In 2007, he accepted the role of Regional Sales and Marketing Manager for Dow Building Solutions, SPU, and Engineering Plastics. He was named Performance Plastics Customer Service Team Leader for Eastern Europe and Middle East & Africa in 2010.
He holds Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Warsaw University of Technology and a Master in Management and Marketing from the University of Warsaw. [/toggle]


zielinskiTomasz Zieliński

President of the Board. Polish Chamber of Chemical Industry

He was graduated at the Technical University of Warsaw, Faculty of Construction, Mechanics and Petrochemical Industry, chemical technology specialization, in Płock and Engineering School in Horsens, Denmark. He was also granted Master of Business Administration at the University of Illinois..

In 2004-2006 he was employed by PKN ORLEN SA on the manager positions. Till 2009 he was the owner of the company offering business advisory services. At the same time he was also Managing Director in the Centre of Innovations and Technological Investments and Director of Department of Technological Investments at AKJ Capital SA (2006-2007).

In 2007-2008 he was a partner in the Energy Studies Institute. He has continued his professional carrier in DGA SA as a Director of Strategic Projects in Business Advisory Department (2008-2009). In 2009 he became as a Vice President of Board and Strategy and Development Director of Chemical Company “Police” SA.

In 2010-2013 he has worked again for the ORLEN Group, being Executive Member of the Board and Director on Strategy and Operations in Anwil S.A. On the turn of 2012-2013, he was President of the Board of Chemeko Sp. z o.o., belonging to Anwil Group. Since 2011 he was a Member of the Board of the Brussels based organization Fertilizers Europe. Actually, since June 2013, he is a President of the Board of the Polish Chamber of Chemical Industry.
