Santiago de la Cierva experience combines the three sides of communications: journalism (as director of a TV news agency), corporate communications both in business and in the non-profit sector, and the academia, teaching institutional communications and crisis management in three universities.

President of the Polish Academy of Sciences

He was the Academy’s President in the years 2007-2010, re-elected for the term 2011-2014. Between 1995 and 2002, Professor Kleiber was the director of the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where since 1986 he has been chairman of the Department of Computational Science and Engineering.

In the years 1998-2002 he was member of the Academy’s Presidium and between 1997-2001 he chaired the Board for Directors of the Academy’s research institutes.Prof. Michał Kleiber pursues research in theoretical and applied mechanics as well as information science and applied math. The main subject of his research are applications of state-of-the-art computational techniques in different areas of scientific research, technology and medicine – particularly for modeling, analyzing, simulating and visualizing of complex non-linear thermo- mechanics phenomena. In recent years, he has been actively involved in research and promotion of national innovation policies. Professor Kleiber is an author or co-author of over 240 scientific works and 7 books published by internationally renowned publishing houses. He is a member of editorial boards of 17 leading international scientific journals and the editor-in-chief of the prestigious Archives of Computational Methods in Engineering (Springer).

He has also been active in popularizing science by, among others, being a scientific board member for the popular-science journal Wiedza i Życie (Science and Life). Prof. Kleiber is a winner of many awards, including the most prestigious Polish scientific award conferred by the Foundation for Polish Science and the medal granted by the Kingdom of Belgium for innovation achievements. He has been awarded the title of doctor honoris causa by the universities in Lublin, Kraków, Warsaw, Darmstadt (Germany), Mons (Belgium) and The Polish University Abroad, London, U.K. He also holds the ingenieur honoris causa title from the Ecole National d’Ingenieurs in Metz (France). He is a foreign member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in Salzburg and member of the Academia Europaea in London. He is a full member of the Warsaw Learned Society.

Prof. Kleiber lectured and did research during long-term stays at a number of renowned universities world-wide: in Stuttgart, Hannover, Darmstadt and Bochum in Germany; Berkeley, CA and Stoors, CN, USA; Tokyo, Japan; Hong Kong, among others.

In the years 1998-2001 Michał Kleiber represented Poland in the EU Joint Research Centre as a member of the Board of Governors and in the “Sustainable Growth” Steering Committee in the 5th Framework Programme. Between 2001 and 2005, he headed the Ministry of Science and Information Technology in the Polish government. From 2002 to 2005, Prof. Kleiber was also the chairman of the Governmental Committee for Offset Contracts. In 2005, he was elected member of the European Research Council (Brussels) and chairman of the European Materials Forum (Strasbourg). In the years 2008 – 2010 he was member of the Governing Council Steering Committee of the European Science Foundation in Strasbourg. He also served as the pro bono science and technology advisor to the President of the Republic of Poland (2006 – 2010).

President, Leon Kozminski Academy

Professor Andrzej K. Koźmiński, the founder and the first Rector (1993-2011) and now the President of Kozminski University, chairman of the Board of Trustees of KU, the President of the Board of the International Business School in Warsaw. He is a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Sciences,. In 1981 – 1987 he was the Dean of the Management Faculty of the University of Warsaw and in 1991 – 1996 headed the International Management Center of the University of Warsaw.

In 1990 – 1996 prof. Koźmiński lectured at the University of California, Los Angeles, and in 1982 – 1989 at the University of Orlean, France. He has been a Visiting Professor at numerous renowned universities abroad. Prof. Koźmiński is an elected member of the International Academy of Management, of Academie Europeane and Academie des Commerciales in Paris, as well as of the Scientific Society of Warsaw. He was a Deputy President of the Central and the East European Management Development Association, he was a member of the Board of the European Foundation for Management Development based in Brussels and a member of the International Committee of the American Association of Collegiate Schools of Business. He is a member of the Presidium of the Organization and Management Sciences Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences and a member of the President’s of the Republic of Poland Advisory Council for Education and Scientific Research.
Also, he is a Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Telekomunikacja Polska SA and a member of the Supervisory Board of Millennium Bank.

Head of the Department of Strategic Management at the University of Warsaw

Krzysztof Obloj, Ph.D., former president of European International Business Academy, is a distinguished professor of Strategic and International Management and holds chairs of Strategic Management departments at School of Management of University of Warsaw, Poland, and Kozminski University. He has regularly taught Bodo Graduate School of Management in Norway, ESCP-EAP in Paris, and Henley Management College in UK.

As a visiting professor he spent a considerable amount of time doing research and lecturing abroad, mostly in the USA at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Yale University, Central Connecticut State University and Duquesne University. He is extensively published. He published two books in the US (“Management Systems”, 1993; “Winning: Continuous Improvement Theory in High Performance Organizations”, 1995) and coauthored few in Europe (the most recent Emerging economies and firms in the global crisis, Palgrave Macmillan, London 2012).

He published articles in Journal of Management Studies, European Management Journal, Industrial&Environmental Crisis Quarterly, International Small Business Journal, Cybernetics and Systems: An International Journal, and sseveral Polish journals. His last books published in Poland: “Corporate strategy”, 2007, and ‘Passion and discipline of strategy’ became bestsellers and have already several editions. Professor Krzysztof Obloj is a renown corporate speaker and consultant in Poland and advises numerous Polish and international firms (e.g. LPP, PKN, Asea Brown Boveri, LG, Benckiser, Beiesdorf) in the areas of strategy, structure and organizational culture. He is a member of three supervisory boards of large joint stock companies listed in Poland, and he is an advisor to the President of Poland, B. Komorowski.

Prior to join IESE Business School, Professor Rosenberg was the Automotive Practice Leader of Heidrick & Struggles and before that spent 15 years as a Management consultant in Europe, North America and Asia for A.T. Kearney and for Arthur D. Little.

Professor Rosenberg received his PhD. from Cranfield University, his MBA at IESE Business School, and his Bachelor of Science (Engineering) from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

Tomas Sedlacek (1977) is a Chief Macroeconomic Strategist at ČSOB, one of the largest Czech banks. He worked as an economic advisor to President Václav Havel. He was a member of National Economic Council, advisory body to the prime minister and government.
