Managing Director of PSIK, the Polish Private Equity and Venture Capital Association.

Barbara Nowakowska has been managing PSIK for 12 years, working for promotion and development of private equity/venture capital industry in Poland and representing interests of the Polish private equity community. Barbara Nowakowska served as an expert on the Polish private equity and venture capital at the European Commission.

Igor Chalupec

CEO, Executive Partner of ICENTIS, CEO of RUCH SA

Mr. Igor Chalupec, (1966) – manager, financier. Presently he is the CEO of ICENTIS Capital specialized in private equity transactions and CEO of RUCH SA, one of the largest press distributors in Poland. Between 2004 and 2007 he was the CEO of PKN ORLEN SA, Central Europe’s largest company operating in the refinery and petrochemical sector.

Between 2003 and 2004 he held a position of Deputy Finance Minister and Deputy Chairman of Financial Services Authorities of Poland and Member of the Financial Services Committee in Brussel. Between 1995 and 2003 he was a Vice President of the Management Board of Bank Pekao SA (UniCredit Group). He was a Founder and CEO of CDM Pekao Brokerage in Poland (1991 – 1995), the largest brokerage company in Poland and the long-time Member of Warsaw Stock Exchange (1995-2003). Mr Igor Chalupec is a member of company supervisory boards in Bank Handlowy SA (Citigroup) (2009-present) and Budimex SA (Ferrovial Agroman Group) (2007-present). He is also a Member of the Polish Business Roundtable, Economic Forum Programme Council (Economic Forum in Poland at Krynica), Member of the Executive Club’s Programme Council, Member of the Board of the Institute of Public Affairs Foundation, Member of the Founder Board of Polish Institute of Directors, Member of the Chamber of Lesław A. Paga Prize, Vice President of the Board of Polish Contract Bridge Association, Member of the Board of the “Women’s Atelier” Foundation, Founder and the Chairman of the Board of Foundation “Evangelical Educational Association”. Co-author of “Russia, oil, politics or the largest investment of PKN ORLEN”, book about the acquisition of shares in Mazeikiu refinery. Mr. Igor Chalupec is a winner of many awards and honors including: Manager Awards winner (2012), Lesław A. Paga Prize winner (2007), WEKTOR Prize winner (2006), HERMES Prize winner (1996).

Przemysław Gdański graduated at the University of Gdańsk (MSc. In Economics) and completed a one-year program in international banking and finance at Loughborough University in the UK. In 2012 completed AMP at IESE. He has over 20 years of experience in corporate and investment banking.

From 1993 to 1995 he worked for IBP Bank SA, then for ABN AMRO Bank in Poland, Romania and in the headquarters in Amsterdam. From 2002 to 2006 he was the Managing Director of Large Corporates Division in BPH Bank. From May to November 2006 – CEO and General Director of Calyon Bank Polska and Calyon SA Branch in Poland. In November 2006 he took the position of Deputy CEO in BPH Bank, responsible for corporate banking and real estate financing. After the merger of part of BPH Bank and Pekao SA – Deputy CEO of Pekao SA, responsible for Corporate Banking, Markets and Investment Banking in Division.

Member of the Management Board of mBank since November, 2008. Currently Vice President of the Management Board, responsible for Corporate and Investment Banking.

Jacek Korpała has been with ARX Equity Partners (formerly DBG Eastern Europe) since April 1998. ARX has offices in Warsaw, Prague, Budapest i Bucharest and manages private equity funds investing in midsize companies in Central Eastern Europe (www.arxequity.com). In medical sector ARX invested in Poland in Lexummedica (www.lexummedica.pl).

He is co-managing partner responsible for ARX investments in Poland and the Baltic States. Mr. Korpala represents the funds managed by ARX on the boards of portfolio companies.

Prior to his work for ARX Mr. Korpala was partner with Arthur Andersen managing its corporate finance practice in Poland and earlier was responsible for privatization of large state-owned companies at the Polish government.

He was member of EVCA Board representing Poland for few years and earlier for two years vice president of the board of PPEA.

Piotr Kuszewski is an assistant professor at the Warsaw School of Economics. Piotr Kuszewski is a graduate of Northwestern University and the Warsaw School of Economics. He holds PhD degree in economics. His main area of research is impact of alternative investments on the development of economy.

Dr Kuszewski teaches classes on investment banking, investment portfolio management, and financial math.Piotr Kuszewski is also CEO at April Polska and Regional Manager for Central Europe at April, which is global assistance and brokerage service provider. In the past Piotr Kuszewski was CEO at TFI BGK – investment fund management company of the State Development Bank of Poland (BGK) and member of the Supervisory Board of the National Capital Fund (Krajowy Fundusz Kapitałowy). At BGK Piotr Kuszewski was also managing director at the Infrastructure Investments Division of BGK and head of the investment banking. He was deeply involved in preparation of Polish Investments Program and launch of Polish Growth Fund-of-Funds (PGFF) with European Investment Fund.

Piotr Kuszewski has broad experience in finance, as well as risk and investment management. In 2007-2010 dr Kuszewski was Vice President and CFO of PZU Życie SA, the largest life insurance company in Poland. He was responsible for finance division as well as financial and insurance risk management. At the PZU Group dr Kuszewski served as a member of supervisory boards of PZU Asset Management and PZU companies in Lithuania. Dr Kuszewski represented PZU Group as chairman of the supervisory board of Armatura SA.

President of the Management Board, Towarzystwo Funduszy Inwestycyjnych BGK S.A.

Mr. Piotr Linke has a Master’s degree in Finance and Statistics from the Warsaw School of Economics and a degree in Economic Science from the University of Warsaw. He completed an Advanced Executive Education program in Strategic Leadership at the Harvard Business Review and Canadian International Management Institute.

From 1984 till 1991, he worked in the Treasury Department of Bank Handlowy w Warszawie S.A., in Vereins- und Westbank AG in Hamburg, in DG Bank AG, and in Mitteleuropäische Handelsbank AG in Frankfurt. Mr. Linke joined Bank Creditanstalt S.A. in Warsaw in 1991 and worked as executive director responsible for setting up and management of the bank’s Treasury Department till 1998.

From 1998 till 2011, he held Senior Vice President and COO positions and later the CEO of the fund management company DWS Polska TFI S.A. in Deutsche Bank Group. Mr. Linke was simultaneously a Senior Vice President and COO of Deutsche Asset Management S.A. from 2000 till 2005.

From 2011 till 2013, he was the CEO of Poland Consulting Sp. z o.o.

Since September 2014, Mr. Linke has been working for the fund management company TFI BGK S.A., first as the head of the Operations Department, and since February 2015 as the CEO.

Principal, European Investment Fund

As a senior member of the LMM team, Marco manages investments in lower mid-market, mezzanine, hybrid debt/equity and debt funds across Europe. To date, he has completed 30+ investments, representing aggregate commitments of more than EUR 1.05bn. He serves on the investors’ Advisory Board of 32 funds.

Prior to joining EIF in January 2009, he worked in direct investments as a senior Investment Manager at Innogest Capital, an Italian VC fund focused on early stage investments.

Previous appointments include Project and Engagement Manager at Capgemini (2001 to 2004), where he successfully led large management consulting engagements, and Ernst & Young Consultants, where he started his career in 1998.
Marco holds a M.S. degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Polytechnic of Turin (Italy).
