On September 28, a club debate was held at the Regent Hotel, organized by the Executive Club. Digital Company: Trends and Technologies That Are Changing Business. Experts from the world of cybersecurity and digital technologies met to discuss important issues related to online security and the impact of technology on the company’s life. The first presentation was the speech of the inaugural guest, Krzysztof Szubert, President of the Management Board of NCBR Investment Fund ASI S.A., Poland’s Plenipotentiary for the UN IGF 2021 Digital Summit: “Poland is the center of discussion about the future of the digital world – UN IGF 2021 Digital Summit. In his speech, the President talked about the planned UN Digital Summit – IGF 2021. He explained what topics would be covered and talked about the program of this year’s edition. He emphasized the role of young people who are the future of the digital world. He encouraged all people, and the young generation in particular, to get involved in such projects.

Then, Dariusz Kwieciński, President of the Management Board of Fujitsu, took the floor, who answered the question: What determines the success of digital transformation? In his speech, the President emphasized that digitization has a huge impact on business. The key to success is transforming businesses into a digital data-driven business. In 2020, this goal was at the top of the top priorities in many companies. The most important thing in starting an investment is to define the goal and focus on its implementation. Building the base and then gradually transforming the application. Transformation itself is diverse, there is no one specific formula for carrying it out.

The last speech was a presentation by Jarosław Tkaczyk, General Manager and CFO Mindento entitled “Digitization of processes that nobody likes”, in which Mr. Tkaczyk talked about his previous experience, the effects of the covida pandemic on the company and employees, and briefly mentioned the idea of digital transformation. He explained what impact the modernization of the company has on the work and mood of employees and what are the benefits of automating various processes. According to him, digitization has an impact on increasing employee satisfaction, such people then feel satisfied with their work.

After the presentation, a discussion panel began, attended by: Jakub Borkowski, Michał Góźdź, Michał Grzegorzewski and Tomasz Uflewski, the whole conversation was moderated by Grzegorz Mazurek. The gentlemen talked about trends in technological automation and ways to reduce costs and processes in running a business. They also delved into the benefits of cloud computing and discussed the risks associated with saving data in the internet.

During the discussion panel, we will discuss a number of activities aimed at reducing the negative impact of buildings on the environment throughout their life cycle, from project preparation through the construction process to their operation. Construction in the European Union is responsible for more than 40% of final energy consumption and is therefore a significant source of greenhouse gas emissions. The invited experts will also refer to the plan, which assumes that by 2030 all newly constructed buildings are to achieve zero emissions and to the possibility to completely decarbonise the construction sector by 2050.

The second edition of the club meeting “Electromobility in Smart City” organized by Executive Club took place on May 19 this year. Experts from the electromobility sector met to discuss important issues related to the sustainable development of cities in the era of technological progress. The meeting took place in Warsaw’s Klub Sosnowy, and the broadcast of the event is available on the Executive Club channel on YouTube.

The debate was inaugurated by the speech of special guest Włodzimierz Karpiński – the Secretary of the Capital City of Warsaw, who presented the strategy of electromobility development in the capital city. The speaker listed the assumptions and all activities undertaken by the City Council to improve the quality of life of inhabitants and all visitors to Warsaw. Investment in public transport and the plan to develop a public network of electric vehicle chargers are among the points of the strategy mentioned by the Secretary. Electromobility is a significant challenge for the Local Government, but at the same time an opportunity to improve the quality of life.

The panel discussion was also preceded by a case study titled “Sustainable Mobility in Smart Cities”, prepared by Leszek Szafran, Managing Director, Consumer Tires, Europe East, Goodyear Polska. He presented the organization as an integral part of sustainable electromobility, emphasizing the technological advancement of tires and their enormous potential.

The presentation was followed by a discussion moderated by Tomasz Polichnowski, Chairman of the Board of Politraffic, PIIT ITS Expert. Artykuł “Electromobility in Smart City” on May 19, 2021! pochodzi z serwisu Executive Club.

The fourth edition of the ‘Noble Health’ organised by the Executive Club took place on April 21st. Medical experts met to discuss important issues relating to prevention and outpatient care. The event was live streamed via YouTube.

The first part of the webinar was an interview with Dorota Hryniewiecka-Firlej, MD, PhD,  Chairman of the Board of Pfizer Polska, which was conducted by Prof. Rafał Ante, Director of the MBA Program Office of the Warsaw School of Economics. The main topic of the conversation was the role of vaccination in prevention. The president of the pharmaceutical company pointed out the apparent difference between the culture before the pandemic and the current situation, highlighting the difficulties and challenges of producing the COVID-19 vaccine. The whole process of its creation was discussed, as well as its development plans. Representative of the Management Board of Pfizer Poland indicated the importance of prevention, which is facing treatment. Dorota Hryniewiecka-Firlej listed life and health as the highest values and called for decisive action in their protection comparing the pandemic to modern war.

The panel of discussion was preceded by a speech by Paweł Żuk, MD, President of the Board of The Medical and Diagnostic Center, which concerned outpatient care being the basis of the health care system. The specialist analysed the number of medical services in Poland with their funding and warned of upcoming demographic changes in the coming years. The President of the Board compared outpatient care with hospital stays, identifying key elements for improvement, and discussing the differentiators and goals of coordinated care.

After the presentation, a discussion began, moderated by Mariusz Gujski, MD, PhD, MPH, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Medical University of Warsaw. Among the discussers were: Prof. Jarosław J. Fedorowski, President of the Board of the Polish Hospital Federation, Prof. Rafał Gierczyński, Vice Director of Epidemiological and Environmental Safety of the National Institute of Public Health, Wadim Kurpias, Country Manager Poland InterHealth Canada, Wojciech Kwaśniak, Business Development Director Skotan S.A. and Paweł Żuk, MD, President of the Board of the Medical and Diagnostic Center. During the discussion panel, invited speakers focused on the health prevention programme and the indications for employers regarding their health and employees’ concerns. Healthcare has been discussed in three perspectives – pre-pandemic, current actions and problems, and the future of the system. Experts agreed on the importance of preventive studies and pointed to the need to increase interest in prevention and patient involvement. As public health perceptions change, the system should be complemented by the necessary coordination and investment in a preventive programme. Experts also discussed the essence of habits that shape a healthy lifestyle, calling for a properly balanced diet, physical activity and the correct proportion of work and rest.

On October 7, at the Bristol hotel in Warsaw, we had the pleasure to organize a club debate focusing on two issues: the digital transformation of business and the practical side of automation. The debate was co-organized by Hexe Capital, and the Honorary Patronage over the event was taken by the Ministry of Digitization.

The moderator of the first discussion panel entitled “Digital transformation of business” was Wiesław Paluszyński – Vice President of the Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications and the following persons were invited to the discussion: Dariusz Kwieciński – President of the Management Board, Fujitsu Poland; Tomasz Uflewski – Enterprise Business Manager, East Europe at HMD Global; Juliusz Brzostek – Cybersecurity Director, NASK PIB; Jacek Szczepański – Deputy Chairman of the Board, Atende SA; Michał Kanownik – President of the Management Board of ZIPSEE “Cyfrowa Polska”; Rafał Jaczyński – Regional Cyber ​​Security Officer, CEE & Nordics, Huawei. The first topic raised was the digital transformation of business in the near term. According to the panelists, the coronavirus epidemic undoubtedly accelerated the transformation process, but on the other hand, it is capital-intensive and in the current situation, companies are looking very carefully at their budgets. As of today, it seems that companies do what they have to do and do not face new investments, because the return on investment is too distant on the horizon. A very important element accelerating the transformation, which the panelists agreed on, is the change of mentality, i.e. the realization that digital transformation is a necessity. Unfortunately, in many cases it is still a barrier to effective digital transformation.

Another thematic block was the 5G network, the value of which is based not on parameters, but on its role in the connection of various ecosystems directly affecting the economy. Among the advantages of the 5G network, apart from greater capacity and low delays, there is also the possibility of connecting a large number of devices simultaneously (up to a million devices per 1 km2). This makes it possible to use this network locally in a very precise way, e.g. for the needs of individual production plants, large companies in Germany install a 5G network in their area. Summarizing this panel, bearing in mind all the possibilities and threats, you should act, seek and use your chance not to lose it while waiting for better times.

After this speech, a second discussion panel began. “Automation in practice”, moderated by Michał Pawlik – CEO, SMEO, and the following people were invited to the interview: Marcin Rybicki – Digital Communication Manager, Jeronimo Martins Group, Mariusz Pełechaty – CEO, Koda Bots, Bartosz Ziółko – CEO, Techmo Sp. z o.o. The practical side of automation, according to panelists, is primarily the simplification of work and obtaining new information. This can be helped by chatbots and voicebots, which are able to effectively automate communication. This may prove necessary when we have an intranet that is used by 70,000 users and which has 15 million views. Such an intranet is managed by the largest private employer in Poland – Biedronka. Artykuł Digital People – Digital transformation of business – second edition of the debate on trends and technologies that change business pochodzi z serwisu Executive Club.

On June 30 at the Bristol Hotel in Warsaw we have organized a debate “Agribusiness 4.0”, that gathered a group of experts from the agricultural sector in Poland. The meeting was held under the Honorary Patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. During the event all necessary precautions were taken.

The debate was inaugurated by a special guest who was Tomasz Nowakowski, President of the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture. In his speech, he emphasized the role of digitization as part of the areas of the „Agency 4.0” strategy. The full electronic document circulation has been mentioned as the main goal to be achieved this year. An important novelty, which will appear in July as a pilot in three provinces will be a mobile application. It aims to reduce the need to appear in the branches of the Agency. If the implementation of this solution is successful, it will be available in all parts of the country since September. The Agency’s long-term plans also include the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning, which will help, among others in the verification of buildings and plants on the farm.

After this speech, there was time for a panel discussion moderated by Professor Marian Podstawka, lecturer at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences and the Director of the Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics. The discussion was attended by:

During the substantive discussion, invited speakers raised the most current issues related to challenges for agribusiness, the impact of new technologies on the industry and the possibilities of financing agriculture. The challenges listed include no pH regulation in soils (this applies to 65% of soil in Poland), soil sterilization and lack of biodiversity. A big challenge for modern agriculture is also the trend according to which consumers want fruit and vegetables to come from local suppliers, which changes the way companies operate from global to local. On the other hand, agriculture is a very large recipient of new technologies. There are innovative solutions such as biodegradable foils that prevent weed growth. Collecting, analyzing and making use of data is commonplace, which will further enhance the development of the 5G network. Another important subject of the debate was the relationship between profit from agriculture and the impact on the environment. Summing up, the panelists together emphasized that the company should be managed in such a way that there is no contradiction between profit and health and environmental protection.

A debate under the slogan “Agribusiness 4.0” will take place on 30 th of June at the Bristol Hotel in Warsaw, which will bring together a group of experts from the agricultural sector in Poland. The event will take place with all necessary preacutions and sanitary requirements.

In the substantive part, invited speakers will discuss the most current issues related to challenges for agribusiness, the impact of new technologies on the industry and the possibilities of financing agriculture. Panelists will focus on the topic of new technologies, which are becoming more and more important for companies in the industry. They will try to answer questions related to building exemplary cooperation between agricultural producers, distributors and suppliers. One of the issues will be changing the traditional approach to unconventional solutions and the role of producers in reducing negative impacts on the environment.
