Founder of the GESSEL law firm, a recognised international arbitrator and expert in commercial law and M&A transactions. She has participated in several hundred arbitration proceedings conducted under the rules of the ICC, SCC, VIAC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, FCC, IAA, SCAI, Lewiatan, KIG, KDPW and SIDiR. In 2024, she was appointed to the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. Previously, she was associated with the Lewiatan Arbitration Court, which she led as President between 2011 and 2017 and where she has served as Honorary President since 2017, as well as with the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris, where she served as a member between 2015 and 2021. Since 2025, she has been a professor at the Institute of Legal Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where she co-creates and develops research in the fields of commercial law, arbitration, and comparative private law.
By combining the perspectives of a practitioner, arbitrator and legal scholar, she brings a holistic view — spanning market realities, international standards and best practices, as well as in-depth academic reflection. This makes her an outstanding expert in the region in the areas where business, commercial law, cross-border disputes and the legal security of globally operating enterprises intersect.
