Report from the “Innovation – Cloud – Cybersecurity” debate

After the inaugural speech, there was a discussion moderated by Xawery Konarski – Vice President of the Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Communication. The debaters included: Rafał Jaczyński – Regional Cyber Security Officer, CEE&Nordics, Huawei, Jakub Jagielak – Director for Cyber Security Development, Atende S.A., and dr hab. inż. Tomasz Nasiłowski – President of the Management Board, InPhoTech. During the discussion panel, the invited speakers focused on three thematic blocks. The first topic concerned the benefits and risks of adopting cloud-based solutions by organizations. These services allow for better security management. One visible problem that Polish enterprises seem to have is the lack of in-house cyber security experts, who would be responsible for this area. It is also important to have a multi-level action strategy, taking into account the security of the physical layer against unauthorized data access. Next, the panelists discussed cloud-based solutions in relation to remote work. The pandemic revealed the effects of previous actions towards digital innovation. Today, the need to increase bandwidth is especially evident, while protection against phishing campaigns and information theft is becoming a significant challenge. In order to limit attacks in the digital world, it is necessary to properly prepare employees for remote work. Appropriate organization is also important, as well as the implementation of basic solutions, such as two-factor authentication. The last part of the debate was devoted to technological trends. The experts discussed, among others, forecasts for the development of the Internet of Things and company investments in employee training. Security is still incorrectly seen as a cost to be paid rather than care for company value. In order to properly ensure security, organizations should decide to separate their security departments from the structures of IT departments. The speakers also emphasized the importance of intellectual property, whose security is key for protecting the developed innovative potential and remaining competitive on the market.
